Baha Mar
Baha Mar, Nassau
If Baha Mar has been on your radar and you're wondering whether it truly lives up to the hype and, more importantly, which hotel you should book, you're in the right place. I've stayed there myself, toured all three hotels with their sales managers, and spent time exploring the property firsthand. This is the honest breakdown and key differences between each hotel to help you decide which one is the best fit for your trip.

Baha Mar is located on beautiful Cable Beach in Nassau and is home to three distinct hotels: Grand Hyatt, SLS, and Rosewood. While each hotel has its own personality and style, all three share the same expansive resort complex and are conveniently connected through the casino.
Within the resort, you'll find more than 40 restaurants and bars, a 15 acre water park, the Caribbean's largest casino, an 18 hole Jack Nicklaus designed golf course, and so many pools that you could easily spend an entire week on property without running out of things to do.
What makes Baha Mar truly stand out is its versatility. Whether you're planning a family vacation, a romantic getaway, a girls trip, a group celebration, or a bachelorette weekend, there is a hotel and experience to fit your travel style.
Baha Mar Resort
The biggest question- Which Hotel should I choose?
You honestly can’t go wrong with any of them, so regardless of what you decide you will have a great time. All three hotels share access to the same restaurants, the water park, the golf course, and the casino. The meaningful differences are in the atmosphere, the room style and set up, the pool situation (see below), and the vibe at night.
Rosewood Baha Mar
Rosewood Baha Mar
MOST LUXURIOUS · MOST INTIMATE · BEST FOR FAMILIES WANTING EXCLUSIVITY
The Rosewood is the most refined and boutique of the three — smaller, quieter, and genuinely elevated in every detail. The rooms feature warm wood accents and Bahamian-inspired design that feel more like a private retreat than a resort. The pools are exclusive to Rosewood guests only, which means significantly less chaos and a much more relaxed pool experience.
For families, the complimentary kids club for ages 4 through 12 is a unique perk that no other hotel on the property offers, and a real differentiator if you're traveling with young children and want some adult time built into your day. If you want luxury and exclusivity while still having access to everything Baha Mar has to offer, this is your hotel.

SLS Baha Mar
MOST VIBRANT · BEST FOR GROUPS · BACHELOR AND BACHELORETTE HEAVEN
The SLS is where you'll find the most energy at Baha Mar. Think DJ nights in the lobby, a rooftop bar with some of the best sunset views on the property, and recently renovated rooms with a bright, modern feel. The two bedroom suites are a great option for groups, offering full kitchens and living areas so everyone can spread out and still stay together.
SLS Baha Mar
One of the biggest perks is that SLS guests have access to both the SLS and Grand Hyatt pools, giving you plenty of options throughout the day.
One honest note: SLS can be lively at night. If you're traveling with friends, celebrating, or looking for a fun atmosphere, you'll probably love it. If you're traveling with very young kids who go to bed early, it may feel a bit noisy. That said, the one bedroom suites are often a great value, and I would still consider staying here with kids if that room setup works best for your family.

Grand Hyatt Baha Mar
MOST VERSATILE · BEST FOR FAMILIES
The Grand Hyatt is the largest of the three hotels and the one I recommend most often for families and those wanting the most affordable rate. It offers the widest range of room types, from standard guest rooms to spacious three bedroom suites, making it a great fit for almost any type of traveler.
There are two sections of the hotel worth knowing about. The West Tower has a brighter, more beachy feel and is closest to the pools, beach, and water park, making it ideal for families who want to be near the action. The East Tower has a more classic look and is home to The Reserve, a premium section with private check in, upgraded amenities, and easy access to the tennis courts and mini golf.
Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, East Tower (more traditional decor)
Grand Hyatt, West Tower (more beachy decor)
Guests staying at the Grand Hyatt have access to all six Grand Hyatt pools, including one with a cliff jumping feature and another with an aquarium. While Grand Hyatt guests do not have access to the Rosewood or SLS pools, I honestly don't think that's a deal breaker for most travelers.
Unless you're specifically looking for the quieter, more exclusive atmosphere of the Rosewood pool or the lively pool party scene at SLS, the Grand Hyatt pool complex has more than enough variety for guests to enjoy.
Insider tip: If you stay at the Grand Hyatt and want a day at the SLS infinity pool, you can rent a cabana and the rental fee goes toward your food and beverage bill. Also, all can pay to rent cabanas, beach beds, or chairs at Baha Bay Beach Club which has the best beachfront views.

The Dining Guide
With more than 40 restaurants, bars, and lounges across the resort, the dining scene is another reason Baha Mar stands out. One thing to know before you go: the Bahamas is expensive, and Baha Mar is no exception. If there are restaurants you really want to try, make reservations before you arrive. I attempted to book dining just two weeks before a recent trip, and several of the most popular restaurants were already completely full.
*Also know that most restaurants automatically include a service charge on the bill, so you do not need to add on top of it unless you want to add extra gratuity.
Cafe Boulud, Baha Mar
Here are my favorites:
Café Boulud
Chef Daniel Boulud's French-inspired restaurant is one of the most consistently excellent dining experiences on the property. Elevated without being stuffy, and the food holds up to its reputation. We had a great dinner here one night. Please order the Exuma cocktail, their take on a guava margarita, for me. It was by far the best cocktail I had during my entire stay. I debated walking over to the bar my last night here so I could order it again.
Katsuya
If you’re looking for a sushi restaurant this is the choice. Fresh, expertly made, and a great option when you want something lighter and more refined after days of beachside eating. Definitely book well in advance here during the busy seasons.
Carna Steakhouse
If you have a large group this is a great choice. They have a private dining room and a great tasting menu for large groups. We had a fantastic celebratory dinner here with 30 people and we’re very happy with the set up and quality.

Costa
One of my favorites at Baha Mar, thanks to its beautiful setting with cozy cabanas surrounding a serene koi pond. As someone who never passes up a good margarita, it was one of the restaurants I really wanted to eat at. The menu is elevated Mexican cuisine, and everything we tried was excellent. I've also heard their Sunday brunch is fantastic and well worth making a reservation for.
Marcus at Baha Mar Fish + Chop House
A vibrant oceanfront restaurant serving fresh seafood, dry aged steaks, and creative cocktails inspired by Bahamian flavors and culture. Its beachfront location is another bonus, making it a great choice for families since kids can play nearby while waiting for their food.
The Food Trucks
One thing I wasn't expecting to love as much as I did was the collection of food trucks located near the water park and pool areas. They offer a variety of quick, casual lunch options, making them perfect for families who don't want to stop for a long sit down meal in the middle of a pool day. It's an easy way to grab tacos, burgers, pizza, ice cream, and other favorites before heading right back to the fun.
Swimming Pig
This is the spot for a relaxed lunch or casual dinner when you just want something unpretentious and genuinely good. The burgers are excellent.
The Manor Bar
An intimate, upscale cocktail bar that is ideal for pre or post dinner drinks in a refined atmosphere. Order the espresso martini, find a seat, and enjoy the music.

Sky Bar at SLS
Opens at 6pm on the 20th floor with panoramic. Arrive right at opening for the best seat and watch the sun go down over the water with a craft cocktail in hand. One of the genuine highlights of any Baha Mar visit regardless of which hotel you are staying in.

The Activity Guide
Baha Bay Water Park
With 24 waterslides, a wave pool, lazy river, surf simulator, and a dedicated splash zone and play area for younger children, Baha Bay is easily one of the best water parks in the Caribbean. Families with kids will likely spend a significant portion of their trip here, and it's one of the biggest reasons Baha Mar is such a popular choice for family vacations.
Baha Bay Waterpark
Baha Bay Beach Club
An exclusive oceanfront retreat with private cabanas and an infinity pool for a quieter, more relaxed day away from the main resort energy and waterpark. A worthwhile splurge on a day when you want to decompress and relax.
Baha Bay Beach Club
Baha Mar Casino
The largest casino in the Caribbean, Baha Mar's casino features hundreds of slot machines, table games, a dedicated sportsbook, and high limit gaming areas. Even if you're not a serious gambler, it's worth walking through just to experience the energy. The casino is also the central hub connecting all three hotels, making it a lively gathering place in the evenings. Between the gaming, bars, live entertainment, and people watching, it can easily become a full night out.
The Flamingos
One of Baha Mar's most popular attractions is the chance to see the resort's resident flamingos up close. Guests can visit Flamingo Cay for daily flamingo experiences, photos, and feeding opportunities. It's a fun activity for all ages and especially memorable for kids. While it might sound a little touristy, it's actually one of those classic Baha Mar experiences that most families end up loving
Game Zone Arcade
Over 50 games in a large arcade. If you are traveling with kids, budget extra time here because they will not want to leave. A great option for a rainy afternoon or early evening before or after dinner.
Arcade
The Sanctuary
One area that often gets overlooked is The Sanctuary, an outdoor recreation space located near the Grand Hyatt. It's a great spot for families and groups, featuring basketball courts, pickleball, tennis, bocce ball, mini golf, and open green spaces for kids to run around. If you need a break from the beach, pools, or water park, it's a fun way to spend an hour or two and adds another layer of activities that make Baha Mar feel like a true destination resort.
The Sanctuary Baha Mar
Baha Mar Golf Course
Golfers will appreciate the 18 hole, par 72 championship course designed by Jack Nicklaus. A complimentary shuttle runs regularly between the resort and the golf course, making it easy to spend a morning on the links before heading back to enjoy the rest of the resort amenities.
Boat Excursions
Snorkeling trips, catamaran cruises, and excursions to Exuma to see the famous swimming pigs are all available through the resort. The Exuma trip in particular is one of those experiences that is genuinely fun, worth the half-day investment if you have the time.
Exuma
Is Baha Mar Worth It?
Absolutely, yes. One of the biggest advantages is that you never have to leave the resort. Between the beaches, pools, water park, golf course, casino, restaurants, and nightlife, there is more than enough to keep you busy.
However, Baha Mar is not a budget destination. Dining, drinks, activities, and the casino can add up quickly, and the resort has a way of making it very easy to spend money without realizing it. That said, with convenient direct flights from many U.S. cities, it's an ideal destination for a 3 to 4 night getaway instead of a week.
My recommendation for most budget travelers is to book the Grand Hyatt. It offers the best balance of value, amenities, and family friendly accommodations. If budget is less of a concern and you're looking for a more elevated and luxurious experience, choose the Rosewood, you will be very happy here. If you're planning a girls trip, bachelorette weekend, or simply want a livelier atmosphere and nightlife, the SLS is the way to go.
One final tip: book through a travel advisor. Perks like complimentary breakfast, hotel credits, potential upgrades, and VIP treatment can add significant value and help offset some of the resort's higher costs. Our complimentary breakfasts and resort credit took about $400 of the final bill.
